Bolognese
The Bolognese belongs to the same grouping of Toys as the Bichon Frise, and although named after the Northern Italian town of Bologna very probably developed originally in the South. Bolgnese are shown in paintings of the Renaissance period and were very popular in the amongst the Italian nobility; indeed a gift was made by Cosimo de Medici of eight Bolognese to noblemen of Brussels, and to this day there is a strong bloodline of Bolognese in Belgium.
On our puppyfinder site we have some lovely videos of Bolgnese puppies.
Amongst illustrious owners of Bolognese were Catherine the Great of Russia, Madame de Pompadour and Empress Maria Theresa of Austria. Dogs of many breeds have been nurtured in the palaces, castles and villas of the nobility throughout the centuries without which we would not have such a rich selection dogs, from Mastiffs to Toys as we now have.
White, like the other Bichon types, his coat is woolly (technically, 'flocked'), without undercoat or curl and it is not trimmed. Still a rare breed in the UK he is a sweet natured little dog, but not keen to be everyone's friend - more of a lapdog than a family dog. A little taller than some at up to 12", he is lightly built and not an outdoor dog.

Bolognese Rescue and Rehoming
Contact the Breed Club. They should be able to give you information about Bolgnese requiring homes and procedures for re-homing; if you are in the unfortunate position of having to re-home your own dog, please go through breed rescue. They will not be judgmental and are best able to find the right permanent home for him.
Bolognese Breeders
