Australian Silky Terrier
The Australian Silky Terrier originated in Australia and at one time was known as the Sydney Silky. Although a member of the Toy Group of Dogs, like his ancestor the Yorkshire and Australian Terriers he is every inch a terrier and would tackle small rodents with great relish.
In common with all Toys he is a very happy housedog, energetic and friendly he is another one who displays no sense of fragility and is perfectly ready to go out for a good walk. He is only 9" tall and 4kg but very game.
The Australian Silky coat is easy to care for, blue and tan like the Yorkie but of more manageable length, requiring only a quick brush through and neat centre parting to make him look perfectly respectable. A little boiled linseed oil in his feed will make his coat gleam, or alternatively a mink oil coat dressing will help replace any natural oils lost through bathing.
Unlike many of the Toys the Australian Silky Terrier is good with children and will play their games with great enthusiasm.

Australian Silky Terrier Rescue and Rehoming
Contact the Breed Club. They should be able to give you information about dogs requiring homes and procedures for re-homing; if you are in the unfortunate position of having to re-home your own Australian Silky, please go through breed rescue. They will not be judgmental and are best able to find the right permanent home for him.
