Wire Fox Terrier
The Wire Fox Terrier, (right is Ch. Travella Smart Design) arrived in the show ring some twenty years after the debut of his Smooth cousin but has outstripped him in popularity. He is a real showman's dog as much of his appearance is down to presentation. In the old, large and wealthy show kennels there were specialists known as terrier men who would spend their days stripping, chalking and trimming to work up the coat into absolute perfection; there still are professional handlers who care for terriers and produce an effect that you could never hope to copy with your pet.
In general conformation terms the breed standard is similar to the Smooth Fox Terrier, though he is, if anything, even more alert and on his toes. But he is a cheerful dog who will join in the children's games and make a fun and lively family pet.

Wire Fox Terrier Breed Rescue and Rehoming
Contact a Breed Club. They should be able to give you information about terriers requiring homes and procedures for re-homing; if you are in the unfortunate position of having to re-home your own dog, please go through breed rescue. They will not be judgmental and are best able to find the right permanent home for him.
If you are looking for a puppy contact the Breed Clubs and the Breeders listed and visit the puppyfinder website where there is a great deal of information on hereditary conditions. If you are a Breeder and wish to advertise your puppies puppyfinder is an excellent showcase.
