Stolen Dogs

Pip, stolen at Brigstock, near Kettering 16 April 2007

Good News  Pip has been found by a sharp-eyed policeman and re-united with his family

A heartbroken Kettering woman has told today of the moment her beloved dog was snatched in front of her and her terrified children, George, 10, and Edward, 6, by two thieves.

Natalie remains shocked and upset as to why anyone would want to take two-year-old Springer Spaniel cross, Pip, who has a heart condition and needs daily medication.

The family were in a field near Brigstock, Kettering on Monday afternoon (16 th April 2006), when a silver car with a sports type spoiler on the back containing two men pulled up. One man climbed into the field and snatched the dog. The man then ran back to the car and made off towards Grafton Underwood

Police are investigating the theft and it is believed the car used is also linked to a series of local burglaries.

As well as the police probe, a massive search effort has been launched by Pip's owners, assisted by volunteers from www.doglost.co.uk an online organisation that works to reunite lost and stolen dogs with their owners.

Posters have been placed across the area and volunteers are searching the streets and checking if Pip is with local wardens, kennels or rescue centres.

Natalie said: "This is the most shocking thing to have happened. Pip is a member of my family and is loved by everyone.

"I cannot understand why someone would want to just snatch him in front of our eyes - he is on medication for a heart condition, he needs to be home with us.

"I would appeal to those who took him to return him to me or a place of authority immediately. I would also ask anyone who has seen a dog matching Pip's description in their area - either walking the streets or with someone - to make contact immediately.

"My number one and only priority at this time is to get my dog back as soon as possible."

Those who have Pip, have seen Pip or a dog matching his description are asked to contact the family immediately on 07703 344473
