|The Swedish Lapphund is a typically Spitz breed, kept as a reindeer guard and herder, with a dense weather resistant coat to protect him from the harsh conditions. He is an intelligent and biddable dog who is quick to learn and eager to please, though he does love companionship and does not like to be left alone.
The Swedish Lapphund has plenty of energy and will take any amount of exercise; he is not a dog to lie around in front of the fire, much as he enjoys being part of a family. Like all Spitz breeds he has a voice that he is not afraid to use.
He is medium sized at up to 20" and solidly built. The dense coat is bear-brown, black, brown or a combination of black and brown with sold colours being preferred. Minimal white markings are acceptable. Another breed that is numerically small, it may be quite difficult to obtain puppies in the UK.

Puppies and dog breeders have moved to our newly re-designed Puppyfinder website where we have full page advertisements for puppies and the opportunity for breeders to have their own profile pages and blog. No designer breeds or puppy farmers, just breeders who care about their dogs as much as you do.
Ethical breeders are invited to register their kennel on Puppyfinder for just £10pa. This allows you to list litters, litters planned and stud dogs
