| The Hungarian Kuvasz is an ancient guarding sheepdog taken to Hungary by nomadic Turkish shepherds in the Middle Ages, although he has developed to become a guard for people and property. He needs very careful handling to get the best from him and plenty of socialisation.
The Hungarian Kuvasz is a powerful dog standing at 29" and up to 50kg. He is not a bulky dog but is very well muscled. He is protective of his owners, devoted and gentle but suspicious of strangers. He will adapt to live in the home but needs a secure area which he can call his own to patrol and and protect.
The Kuvasz coat is medium length, white and wavy with a fine undercoat, which is easy to keep but needs regular grooming if you don't want white hairs everywhere. His eyes are a particular feature; they are dark and almond shape with an exotic slant; they are outlined in black and the lips and nose are also black.
The Hungarian Kuvasz are a rare breed in the UK, some patience and research will be required before a puppy could be acquired.
