What are Google Maps for Business?

Google Maps for Business are, at present, a free service offered by Google to all businesses to help them appear in the search results. A basic listing is created by Google, but businesses now have the opportunity to enhance their listing.  The examples below show two kennels who are in competition with each other; the second has an enhanced entry, giving much more information, whilst the first isn't very useful - even the location icon is in the wrong place.  

In 10 weeks since completing the map, the kennel with the enhanced listing has been displayed on search results 10,603 times, and has led to huge increase in enquiries.

A Google Map for Business lets you:

• Describe your business and what it's specialities are
• Correct a misplaced location icon
• Choose which of up to 5 categories to be listed under; for example, kennels, pet boarding, pet grooming, pet sitting, pet trainer, animal trainer, animal shelter, pet shop
• Give your opening hours and methods of payment
• Link to your website
• Give contact details - phone numbers, fax and email Add up to 10 photographs

With a well-written business description you have a very good chance of being listed high in the Google search results.  You don't even need a website to appear.

With a well-made Business Map you can either click straight through to the website or, by selecting Hill Farm Kennels, go the Google Business listing for more information.  You can include up to 10 photographs and correct a mis-placed marker
